This is the same hype that happens when President Duterte won the Presidential Election in 2016. All eyes are on him and one of the big reason why he won the Presidency is because of the influence of Social Media. There were big bloggers like Mocha, Thinking Pinoy, Sass Rogando Sassot and Krizette Chua who helped Duterte to influence the heart of the Filipinos- Social Media. Until now, these bloggers are still supporting Duterte.
The reason why President Duterte is seen as a leader is that he has the traits apt for a “Great Man.” He has self-confidence, drive (he wanted to end drug-related crimes immediately, something that past Philippine presidents did not focus on), honesty and integrity (he says what he really thinks), and desire to lead (he did run for the office). If we are to use the FFM, he is seen as dependable (the city he was a mayor of prior to running for president has a very low crime rate), agreeable (he has seen a relatable character due to his “humble” beginnings), and extraverted.
Marc Pasco, a philosophy teacher went on Facebook and shared his thoughts about why he thinks Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is loved by the people. Pasco mentions that one of the attributes that the mayor has going for him is his good looks. The fact that he goes on live online so people can see what he is doing and speaking like an average Joe also makes him approachable in the eyes of the public. Isko showed that he cared about the cleanliness of the city when he accidentally stepped on dog poop when he was at the Bonifacio Monument. This made people love him even more.
